Prince Edward County might just as easily be in Europe. Even though it's the closest Ontario Wine Region to Ottawa, Toronto and Montréal. When one exits the 401 and heads south onto the island, the landscape transforms into rolling countryside dotted with vineyards in a luscious painting of rural tranquility. You've come through the looking glass into another world. Leave the deadlines behind...everything moves at a luxurious pace in The County. The wines are superb, the foods are fresh and inspired, the accommodations are classic and comforting. The County is a cornucopia of music, art, fine cuisine, and...of course...wonderful wines.

    The 7+ WONDERS of
    Prince Edward County
    (there are many many more)

    Sandbanks Beach & Park
North America's longest fresh water beach and Number One in the list of "Wonders of Prince Edward County." Just what you'd expect to find...in the Caribbean. World famous!

    North Beach & Park

    The Millennium Trail
The County’s Millennium Trail is a 73 hectare sanctuary – a linear parkland that weaves through 50 km of outback, pastureland, backyards, wetlands, vineyards, and hamlets. Bike, walk, explore, be awestricken!

    Lake on the Mountain
Lake on the Mountain is a natural curiosity: it has a constant flow of clean, fresh water, with no apparent source, 60 metres above Lake Ontario. Mohawks offered gifts to its spirits and settlers thought it was bottomless. The depth of the lake cannot be ascertained. A beautiful view of Adolphus Reach below from its cliffs.

    The Murray Canal
Constructed between 1882-1889 to provide an alternative shipping route to the treacherous waters surrounding Prince Edward County, the canal makes The County an island, and opens a path to the Bay of Quinte and the best sailing grounds on Lake Ontario.

    The Glenora Ferry
How can a ferry be a wonder of The County? Because it's a fabulously scenic boat ride for you and your car that costs absolutely nothing! And when you get off the ferry, you're either very close to Lake on the Mountain, or on the road to Kingston.

    The Birds
Prince Edward County is an extraordinary birding location with the highest concentration and abundance of migratory birds anywhere on the Canadian side of Lake Ontario. Even with the backdrop of all The County's hypnotic natural beauty, the birding alone ranks it as a National Treasure to protect and cherish.
